How to think about building a sales tech stack

Identifying and Evaluating tools don’t have to be a pain if you batch them.

If you're looking to put together a sales tech stack, there are a few key steps you can follow:

  1. Identify your sales team's needs: The first step in building a sales tech stack is to identify the specific needs of your sales team. This might include things like a CRM to manage customer relationships, a sales forecasting tool to help with planning, or a communication platform to facilitate collaboration between team members, mailwarmers to improve domain score, and even call routing to deal with inbound calls. Each team is different so it’s important to map out how you customer is going to go from aware to converted in your pipeline.

  2. Research available tools: Once you have a good understanding of your team's needs, it's time to start researching the various tools and platforms that are available to meet those needs. This might involve looking at industry publications, reading reviews and testimonials, and even reaching out to other sales teams to see what they're using. My preference is always to talk to people and ask what they use certain tools for.

  3. Evaluate potential tools: As you research different tools, it's important to carefully evaluate their features and capabilities to ensure they meet your team's needs. Consider factors like pricing, ease of use, integration with other tools, and customer support when making your decision.

  4. Test and pilot: Before making a final decision, it's a good idea to test out potential tools and platforms with a small group of users. This can help you identify any potential issues or challenges and give you a better sense of how the tool will work in practice.

  5. Implement and train: Once you've selected the tools that are right for your team, it's time to implement them and provide training to ensure that everyone is able to use them effectively. This might involve setting up accounts, importing data, and providing guidance on best practices for using the tools.

Overall, building a sales tech stack can be a complex process, but by following these steps, you can ensure that you have the right tools in place to support your team's success.
